Soup Haus FAQ's
Q1: Who is Soup Haus for? Is it only for people in need?
Answer: Soup Haus is for everyone and anyone who enjoys the complimentary dining experience that we wish to provide with the help of our volunteers, partners, and sponsors. It's not just for people in need. The word need can be interpreted many ways - some people need company, others need food, some need a break after a long day, others need a reason to get out of the house and have some fun! You don't have to "need" to dine with us, but every need is a valid need to us. Q2: Do I have to make a donation if I come for supper? Answer: No, there is absolutely no obligation to make a donation of any sort. Our supper offering is a gift - one with no strings attached. We look forward to serving you. :) Q3: If I want to make a donation, may I? Answer: Yes, if you feel that you would like to contribute something to the running of Soup Haus, you can ask for Josh at the kitchen entryway. We accept monetary donations in person or online, as well as small canning jars, non perishables, and fresh produce from farms under certain circumstances. Q4: When do I have to make my reservation by? Do I have to reserve? Answer: Yes please, reservations help us prepare the right amount of food each week. Reservations should be in latest by Saturday at 12 noon. We confirm every reservation. We still have some extra food prepared for walk-ins, however we ask for advance notice as much as possible so we can better serve you and the community. Q5: What is the Giving Table? Answer: The Giving Table is a table where we place complimentary take-home goods. Please feel free to take what you need or might enjoy, what you can use, while also being considerate of others attending the supper each night so everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the offerings. |
Q5: Do you do take-out?
Answer: The short answer is No. The long answer is too winded. Please don’t ask us for take out 🙏 Thank you. Q6: What is the time frame for seating dinner guests? Answer: Guests are encouraged to arrive for 5pm. How do I become a Soup Haus Volunteer? Easy! You just let us know before Sunday and show up! Volunteers arrive by 4pm to help with set up, and they're usually done by 7-7:30pm. Duties include set up of tables/dishes/cutlery, setting giving table, serving water/coffee/tea, serving dinner to guests, helping with dishes if requested, clearing tables, clean up, pack up, and sweeping. We feed all of our volunteers as well, so plan to dine too! Can I support the Soup Haus initiative another way? If you'd like to contribute towards the Soup Haus community initiative, we happily accept small canning jars and canning lids, unopened (not expired) ingredients (sunflower oil, dried fruit, nuts, and candy for the giving table, etc..), or you can make either a one time, or monthly financial contribution by clicking the donation button below. If you'd like to become a sponsor, or inquire about partnership, please contact us! |
